Online trading platform Upstox ran a cricket-focused campaign to achieve 7m downloads and grow awareness and consideration during the COVID-19 pandemic in India.

The marketing objective

While 2020-2021 was historically a black swan period due to covid & overall gloom in the environment, stock markets saw heightened interest. For retail investors, this could prove to be an add on revenue opportunity. Upstox was a new online trading platform and this was great opportunity to build top-of-mind awareness and salience for stock trading on their platform; and expand the market for investors; with many seemingly interested, but scared to take first step.

Challenge: Stocks intrigued them, but they feared losing hard-earned money due to lack of knowledge & confidence.
