US telecoms titan Verizon Communications – renamed after the recent merger of Bell Atlantic with GTE – has placed all its media planning and buying business with Draft Worldwide and Zenith Media in New York.

The accounts cover Verizon Communications, Verizon Wireless and Verizon Information Services, with billings predicted to top $500 million.

The Draft/Zenith alliance beat off rival pitches from four unnamed networks in a three-month review.

Zenith has previously handled some of Bell’s media buying, whereas GTE used True North and MindShare.
