LEEDS, UK - Britain's second largest supermarket chain has announced it will open at least 25 new stores this year as it seeks to recover from a difficult 2005.
Asda, owned by US retail giant Wal-Mart Stores, says the new outlets will be a mixture of supermarkets, non-food shops and small neighbourhood stores.
The strategy aims to recapture market share and remedy two consecutive quarters of missed sales and profit targets.
