Technology titan Ericsson is creating a centralised sales and marketing unit to oversee the disciplines across the group.

Sales and marketing at the Swedish-headquartered company were previously handled separately at each of its divisions. But as part of a drive to boost sales it will form a new group-wide function under Bert Nordberg, head of Ericsson’s Systems business unit.

“The new group function,” declared president/ceo Carl-Henric Svanberg, “will be established to secure profitable growth and further develop the professional sales culture.”

Ericsson is the biggest supplier of mobile technology systems in the world. The consumer side of its business is based around the Sony Ericsson mobile phone handset joint venture.
