Executive summary

In Egypt, children with autism are either treated with exorcism, or are ignored and not invested in by parents, as they are seen to have no potential for success and are looked down on by society.

In 2017, we helped the Egyptian Autistic Society (EAS) to change society's misperceptions and misunderstanding about autism, moving children with autism from being the victims of prejudice and neglect to being accepted, integrated and looked up to. In collaboration with parents of children with autism, we shared real-life inspirational stories of the children, demonstrating that there is More to Autism, and getting Egyptians to see the talent, not the disability, by showing how the children aren't limited, but are limitless.
