Competing for the dark chocolate market

When it comes to chocolate, consumers are turning to the dark side. Although people in mainland Europe have traditionally had a taste for dark chocolate, the sweeter milk version has long been the dominant variety of the Anglo-American world. Yet tastes are shifting, with manufacturers including Mars, Hershey and Cadbury Schweppes, all striving to develop and market new dark products and/or extensions of staple brands such as Kisses, M&Ms and Flake.
