Media consumption in Europe falls to lowest level since 2012

An overview of daily media consumption in Europe between 2012 and H1 2018.

Total media consumption in Europe amongst internet users (aged 16-64) has fallen to the lowest level since 2012, the latest data from GlobalWebIndex show. Daily consumption reached 10:18 (hours:minutes) in H1 2018, down 10 minutes from 2017. Whilst 2017 was the peak of consumption at 10:29, H1 2018 levels were still below all years prior, except for 2012.

Since 2012, online media has increased its share of total media consumption from 48.8% to 55.9% in H1 2018. All other categories saw a decrease, with linear TV having the greatest decline of 4.2 percentage points. These changes have likely...
