Traffic to news sites from Facebook sees 48% year-on-year decline

Publishers are having to manage a “sharp decline” in the volume of referral traffic from social media platforms like Facebook, the latest annual report by the Reuters Institute at University of Oxford finds.

The Reuters Institute’s study, based on a survey of over 300 “digital leaders” from more than 50 countries, explores the attitudes and expectations of publishers and senior journalist leaders about the industry and practice of news.
