Vibha Bakshi: Son rise – rallying men and boys to create a unified and bold force against gender based violence

Vibha Bakshi, an Indian filmmaker, launched the ‘Son Rise’ documentary to highlight gender inequality in rural India, which was screened in public schools and universities to encourage young men and boys to stop the cycle of violence against young women.

Research has shown a strong correlation between a low female to male sex ratio and crimes against women. Girls in India are subjected to » child marriages, teenage pregnancies, child domestic work, sexual abuse, exploitation, and violence.
