Scottish Enterprise, headquartered in Glasgow is the Government Agency responsible for economic development in Scotland, reporting to The Scottish Office.

Locate in Scotland is the Division responsible for generating inward investment, with particular emphasis on job creation. Established in 1981 with 14 offices around the world, Locate in Scotland (LIS) has been instrumental in creating Scotland's specialism in high technology manufacturing and service industries, giving rise to the term 'Silicon Glen'.
