Situation analysis

India is a land of varied cultures, religions and festivals. The festival of Ganesha (Ganesh Utsav in Hindi) is one such festival that is celebrated widely. The public celebration of Ganesh Utsav started in Pune 125 years ago and the city continues to be the epicentre of festivities. Unfortunately, after the celebrations, over 1 million Ganesha idols are immersed in water bodies across India, leaving tonnes of residue.
