Situational analysis: Ban the bad plastic challenge
PET, or polyethylene terephthalate, is a type of polymer called polyester which was invented around 75 years ago. From beverages to food items, from pharmaceutical products to life support materials, PET is regarded by many as one of the most benign and versatile material that is being used for packaging globally. One of the ubiquitous manifestations of PET is the commercially sold water bottle, now such a standard idiom for the urban, the fastidious, and the 'modern'. However, it is also a fact that these bottles continue to be regarded with suspicion by a lot of people as being seen as environmentally unfriendly and harmful.
The fact, however, is that PET is completely safe. It is technically 100 percent recyclable and has a lower carbon footprint when compared to other packaging materials.
