Situation – A Stark Reality

Cathy Messina knows the horrors of opioid abuse. One evening, Cathy returned home to find her son, David, overdosing from heroin. Cathy rushed upstairs to get help from her eldest son, who had previously struggled with heroin. But he was also overdosing. Cathy called 9-1-1. Paramedics came in time to administer naloxone to her eldest son, instantly countermanding the opiate's effects.

But they were too late for David, who became one of the 80 Americans who die daily...
