One-third of US Gen Zs get sports news via YouTube

An overview of US Gen Z sports news habits and the wider sports streaming landscape.

The most popular channel for US Gen Zs to catch up with sports news is YouTube (31%), followed by Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and ESPN, according to Morning Consult.

Gen Zs who watch sports tend to do so more on digital platforms, with 32% reporting streaming via a licensed streaming service and 28% via broadcast or cable TV. Compared to a 2020 survey conducted by Morning Consult, when Gen Z still preferred watching sports via cable TV, Gen Z has now become the only generation to stream sports more than watching on linear TV.
