In June 1996 Seagram Company Ltd. debuted a television commercial for its Crown Royal Canadian whiskey on a local NBC affiliate in Corpus Christi, Texas. Like other makers of distilled spirits, Seagram sought to keep its product profitable in an era of declining hard liquor consumption.
