INTRODUCTION
This paper provides a cross-cultural view of the interaction between popular culture and dietary habits. Focusing on American foods eaten in Italy and Italian foods eaten in the United States, we examine the complex web of customs, myths, and passions when these two nations confront each other at the dinner table. We then apply these findings to consumer insights relevant to food manufacturers, restaurateurs, retailers and marketers.
