Disney+ see subscriber numbers decline for a second consecutive quarter

Disney has slipped behind Netflix in the global SVOD subscriber leaderboard.

Disney+ suffered a second consecutive quarterly decline in subscriber numbers, with its global user total falling 2.5% quarter-on-quarter to 157.8 million. 

While the drop can be in part attributed to a fall in the number of users of its Disney+ Hotstar service in Asia, it means that Disney has fallen behind in the SVOD market - only months after overtaking Netflix in having the highest number of subscriptions globally. 

While Disney now has a total of 231.3 million SVOD customers across Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+, Netflixhas now reestablished its market leadership with 232.5 million subscribers. ...
