The latest figures from key players in subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) show the battle to grow audiences is becoming tougher: Netflix continues to lose subscribers, while Disney+ catches up. Peacock lies flat and Paramount gains growth momentum.
Disney+ added 14.1 million subscribers in the fiscal third quarter. Combining 46.2 million subscribers from Hulu and 22.8 million from ESPN+, Disney’s total subscriptions tally up to 221 million - now slightly more than Netflix. The company also announced last week that an ad-supported subscription tier of Disney+ will come to the US in December.
