Identifying the problem
In Chile, over the past 10 years, aesthetics surgeries have tripled, but any doctor (including dentists) without having the plastic subspecialty - which lasts two years and has demanding entry barriers - can perform aesthetic procedures. Thus, currently 18,000 surgeries are performed in the country per year, of which almost half are not performed by specialists, putting the lives of thousands of Chileans at risk.
