Every Kiwi Vote Counts: Meddle in the New Zealand election

Every Kiwi Vote Counts, a non-partisan initiative, harnessed the power of social networks to mobilise overseas New Zealanders (Kiwis) to vote in the country's 2020 election.


Founded to turn around the dismal participation of overseas New Zealanders (known as ‘Kiwi') in New Zealand elections, non-partisan initiative Every Kiwi Votes Counts had three specific objectives:

  1. Create maximum reach, awareness and engagement in the lead up to Election 2020
    • Facebook + Instagram reach 250K ( 1-in-every-4 overseas Kiwis )
    • mpactful media coverage, including video and/or links
    • Engagement: FB + website visits
  2. Change consumer behaviour by increasing overseas voting in Election 2020 v 2017
    • Increase overseas resident voters +20%
    • Migrate overseas voters to online voting +30%
    • Disproportionately increase participation by Kiwis in Australia as % of total overseas...
