NME is a weekly music magazine. It covers 'indie rock'; a term created in the 80's to describe bands who weren't all about big stadium shows, air guitar and long frizzy hair. They had a raw sound that big record companies didn't like, so they signed to smaller, independent labels hence the term 'indie' rock.
