In January 1989 Anheuser-Busch, introduced "Bud Bowl," a sequence of spots featuring a mock football game played by cans and bottles of Budweiser and Bud Light. The commercials aired during each of the four quarters of the Super Bowl, the National Football League championship game. The "Bud Bowl" campaign became a hallmark of Anheuser-Busch advertising, with new spots created for each successive Super Bowl.
