US shoppers “consolidate” trips in response to inflation
Many consumers in the US are responding to inflation by “consolidating” their shopping trips: they are making fewer trips to supermarkets but stocking up in greater quantities when they get there.
Vivek Sankaran, the chief executive officer of The Albertsons Company, which runs 2,200 stores under 20 retail banners, outlined this trend on a recent call with investors.
