Conscious Brands 100: Huawei is No 1 in China
Huawei has emerged No 1 on the inaugural list of China’s 100 most conscious brands, beating other leading names like Microsoft and Pfizer. The Chinese tech company scored highly with China’s consumers against criteria such as “makes the world better”, “embraces diversity” and “drives reform”, while also being regarded as innovative and socially responsible.
Why it matters
Huawei topped the inaugural list of China’s 100 most conscious brands, which are responsive to people’s needs, moods and culture, while taking responsibility by helping people, communities and the planet. The company shows the six key signs of being empathetic, reformist, multisensory, habitual, collective and moral.
Four findings
- The list was created amid increased consumer demand for brands to act more responsibly and be more responsive to peoples’ identities, moods and cultures.
- Beyond Meat at No 10 represents innovative and sustainable vegetarian food that resonates with Chinese consumers and is viewed as being culturally relevant.
- During the pandemic, Microsoft (No 2) leveraged technology to help those on the front lines of COVID-19 research, scoring highly for the importance of its role in people’s lives.
- Online company Headspace (No 11) was rated highly for its focus on improving health and happiness amid the pandemic through meditation and mindfulness.
