Last year was the year that Chinese games officially took over the world – particularly in the competitive space of mobile gaming. In 2022, China overtook the US for the first time to dominate the Top 52 app publishers around the globe, as ranked by US analytics company data.ai, with 17 domestic companies earning a spot on the list. The top publishers in 2022 adopted hybrid strategies through a combination of one-time purchases and recurring subscriptions to maximize monetization within their apps.
