Entertainment and leisure was the biggest outdoor advertising category in the UK in 2016, according to data from Nielsen and the AA/Warc Expenditure Report. The product category’s total adspend - at rate-card level - amounted to £163.1m. This represents a 7.1% increase year-on-year from 2015, when adspend stood at £152.4m. In terms of spend, the sector is significantly ahead of the second placed category, drink, which generated £92.1m of advertising spend in 2016, a rise of 26.7% year-on-year.
