An overview of the most important internet device for UK adults between 2013 and 2018.

Smartphones are the most important internet device for nearly 50% of internet using adults (aged 16+) in the UK, according to the latest data from Ofcom. 48% of the UK population claimed their smartphone was the most important device, while just 24% said their laptop was most important.

Smartphones have seen a dramatic increase in importance since 2013, rising 33 percentage points (pp) from just 15% in 2013. This is coupled with a significant decline for laptop, falling from 46% in 2013 to 24% this year.
