e-commerce accounts for 15% of sales in the UK's clothing sector

Average weekly internet retail sales (aka e-commerce) in the UK's clothing sector have increased 321.7% since August 2009, according to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics. This equals £140 million per week in August 2018, up £13 million from the previous year and £107 million from August 2009. A strong seasonal variation exists, with November and December being the peaks of each year.

As a share of total clothes retail sales, internet sales made up 15.1% in August 2018. This is an increase of 1.4 percentage points (pp) since the previous year and 10.3pp since August 2009....
