The penetration of free video streaming services reached a new high in the UK, France, and the United States in 2020, according to data from market analysts Ampere.
Over two-thirds (68%) of internet users in the UK used a free advertising video-on-demand (AVOD) or broadcaster video-on-demand (BVOD) service in the past month during Q1 2020, the highest level in the past five years. Peaks were also seen in France (at 42% in Q3 2020) and the United States (28% in Q3 2020).
