The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has driven an increase in shopping online but Europe and North America lag behind in terms of mobile commerce, according to data from GlobalWebIndex.
Globally, one-half (52%) of internet users have purchased a product online on a mobile device in the past month, a share flat since 2017. However, buying on a PC or laptop has declined in popularity, dropping continuously from 47% in 2017 to one-third (34%) in 2020.
