Over three-quarters of UK adults used a Facebook-owned platform in the past week

An overview of the top 10 social media platforms used in the past week by UK adults.

Over three-quarters (77.6%) of UK adults used a platform owned by Facebook in the past week, according to the latest data from the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. Facebook was the most popular individual platform, at 66.2%. Other Facebook company entities also scored highly – WhatsApp at 43.9% (third place), Facebook Messenger at 43.6% (fourth place), and Instagram at 21.8% (sixth place).

YouTube was the second most popular platform, at 49.3%, while the next non-Facebook entity was Twitter in fifth place at 29.3%. However, just over one in ten (12.2%) UK adults reported not using any social media...
