Nike is expected to spend nearly $1.4 billion on endorsement contracts this fiscal year (FY), according to company reports. The sports and apparel giant forecasts sponsorship contracts to reach $1,391 million in FY18/19, the highest level yet. Nike sponsorship practices generated debate earlier this year after the company put Colin Kaepernick at the front of the 'Just Do It' slogan's 30th anniversary.
The amount expected to be paid for sponsorship has also shown strong and continual growth in recent years. While $675 million was expected to be spent in FY10/11, this has since doubled.
