The number of active Internet of Things (IoT) connections is forecast to triple between 2018 and 2025, according to the latest research from IoT Analytics. The Internet of Things is the network of physical devices, like buildings and watches, that have sensors and network connectivity embedded in them. The number of these devices will reach 21.5bn in 2025, up 207.1% from the 7.0bn recorded in 2018.
As a result, IoT will account for over three-fifths (62.9%) of all device connections. This is up from a one-quarter (27.3%) share in 2015.
