In the 1960s Healthtex, Inc., was the leading children's clothing manufacturer in the United States. The company's dominance of the industry lasted until the late 1970s, however, when smaller brands with newer, more contemporary styles began to eat into Healthtex's market share. By 1990 the company had fallen far from its number one position and had suffered a huge loss in retailer and consumer confidence.
