Streaming accounts for seven times as much LGBTQ+-related content as linear TV

Streaming platforms account for 87% of available LGBTQ+-related representative content, with Black LGBTQ+ content best represented , according to Nielsen’s latest report on LGBTQ+ representation in media and advertising. 

Given the limited content on traditional TV, both Heterosexual and LGBTQ+ audiences view content on traditional TV as more “non-inclusive” than those on streaming services.

Compared to linear TV, there are seven times more LGBTQ+ inclusive shows and productions on streaming platforms. However, the number of new LGBTQ+ inclusive titles entered a decline after a peak in 2019.
