The backstory

As the F-35 fighter's capabilities advance beyond its initial charge, the Pentagon has set out to modernize their fifth-generation fleet to stay ahead of evolving threats. This means either developing a new engine or upgrading the existing F135 engine with additional power and cooling ability.
