Hanwha: Solar beehive

Hanwha, a B2B brand, collaborated with the Korea National University of Agriculture and Fisheries to manufacture The Solar Beehive, a smart beehive optimised to protect honeybees from abnormal climates, to raise favourability and reputation.

Background

Globally, the honeybee population is drastically declining. Environmental organizations name climate change as its biggest cause. Bees, as temperature-sensitive creatures, couldn't adapt to the unprecedented abnormal climate.

Bees are the world's most important pollinators, and declining bee populations pose a serious threat to global food security and nutrition. In fact, one-third of the world's food supply — or one out of every three bites of food we eat — relies on bees. The extinction of honeybees affects not just 90% of wild flora, but also the animals and people who feed on those, and further the entire biodiversity.
