Cancer Council and the Department of Health and Aged Care: Get2It – national bowel cancer screening program

The Australian Government's Department of Health and Aged Care and Cancer Council Australia developed a creative platform, Get2It, that served as a call-to-action to increase the rate of the National Bowel Cancer Screen Program (NBCSP) test kits returns.

Issue

Bowel cancer is Australia's second biggest cancer killer, responsible for more deaths than breast, prostate or skin cancer1. Australians aged over fifty are at increased risk, but 90% of cases can be successfully treated if caught early2. That's why the Australian Government runs a National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP). The program provides Australians aged 50-74 years with a free and simple bowel screening test, which is sent by mail every two years.

It's a straightforward life-saving test but many Australians don't do it. In fact, preliminary data suggests national participation between 2020 and 2021...
