The Context
Since its outbreak in early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has upended our lives in a multitude of ways. It has ground economies to a halt, jeopardised livelihoods, changed perspectives on our very way of living.
The first case of the novel coronavirus was detected in Mauritius on 18 March 2020 and a national Iockdown imposed on 20 March. The country kickstarted its national vaccination campaign in January 2021. By August that year, 60% had been fully vaccinated.
