Following a successful first season in May 2021, the Basketball Africa League (BAL) launched its second season in Dakar, Senegal on March 5th, 2022, in a 3-month tournament that included 12 club teams, from 12 African countries that also played games in Cairo, Egypt, and Kigali in Rwanda.
The BAL, a new partnership between the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the NBA, is headquartered in Dakar, Senegal and aims to increase interest and participation in basketball as a fledging sport across the continent.
