Paris 2012 – Mobilisation Day for the Paris 2012 bid: 5 June 2005

PROJECT BACKGROUND

One month before the IOC's official announcement of the elected city host of the 2012 Olympics, Paris wanted to showcase the French's enthusiasm and passion for its candidacy.

Paris had planned to organise a special day dedicated to Olympic Games: “a day without cars”. The idea was to preview what Paris would look like as an Olympic City Host as well as a day to day living environment. The event was planned on June 5th 2005, one day before the Olympic evaluation commission results, and was designed to get worldwide visibility.

Havas Sports' recommendation to realise this idea was to focus on the practice of the sport itself and their Olympic values. Havas Sports' suggestion was to transform the Champs Elysées into an 'open-to-all' Olympic Stadium.
