September 2004 marked the 50th anniversary of advertising for Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey; the charcoal-mellowed distilled spirit that today is the top-selling American whiskey in the world.
Thanks in large part to consistent, whimsical, and memorable advertising, Jack Daniel's is popular in 135 nations. More than seven million cases are sold annually for Brown-Forman Beverages, Inc., which owns the distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee (population 361), where the whiskey has been crafted, drop-by-drop, since 1866.
