Globally, the summer of 2023 saw the hottest July ever, prompting the UN to declare that the world has moved into the era of “global boiling”. And the science is clear – we have related biodiversity and climate emergencies. Population growth, increased water usage, transportation, urbanisation and more have led to rising greenhouse gases, ocean acidification, loss of tropical forest and, of course, climate change. This “great acceleration”, as it is known, calls for urgent action.
