NEW YORK: Peter Stringham, former head of global marketing at the HSBC banking group, is expected to be named ceo of WPP Group's Young & Rubicam Brands. He would fill the role left vacant in December by the departure of Ann Fudge.

Stringham was North American ceo of Y&R during the 1990s. He joined HSBC in January 2001, and in 2004 steered a review that resulted in the bank consolidating its $600 million (€456.7m; £306.5m) global marketing services account at nine WPP units.
