LONDON: UK cellphone provider Virgin Mobile is launching the country's first full mobile television service this week, offering several digital terrestrial channels and access to hundreds of digital radio stations.
Virgin, now part of the NTL cable group [WAMN: 05-Apr-06], trialled the service last year and found the varied radio offering appealed more to customers than the limited TV choice. It also found that users would be willing to pay up to £8 ($15; €11) a month for the service.
The full line-up of participating TV and radio broadcasters will be announced shortly.
