NEW YORK: US satellite television providers DirecTV Group and EchoStar Communications have teamed with internet service provider Clearwire to offer a wireless broadband service to their customers. In return, the ISP will sell TV services from one or both companies to its subscribers.

The 'triple play' packages will challenge similar services offered by telcos and cable providers.

Comments Washington State-based Clearwire ceo Ben Wolff: "We are always looking at new ways of getting product out and distributing it, and this helps solve how DirecTV and EchoStar would go about adding a high-speed internet service to their offering. We figured out a good way to work together."
