SEATTLE: Interactive agency Avenue A/Razorfish, already a key player in the USA, Europe and south-east Asia, has extended its activities to the Land of the Rising Sun via a co-investment project with Dentsu, the globe's fifth largest agency holding group.

AA/R, a Seattle-based independent shop, has entered the Japanese market in partnership with Dentsu's Digital Palette - having sought but failed to find a suitable independent digital agency with which to ally.

Explains AA/R president Clark Kokich: "We didn't find in Japan an independent company that could deliver the quality and services that we were looking for."

The new partnership relates to Japan only and limits neither company's freedom to ally with other partners elsewhere in the world.
