LONDON: Digital UK, the government-industry body overseeing Britain's five-year phased switch from analogue to digital TV, is to lose chief executive Ford Ennals (pictured) when his period of notice expires February next.

Ennals, who joined D-UK in April 2005, is defecting to Nike-owned upmarket footwear and leather-goods firm Cole Haan where he will rule as president.

His resumé reflects an unusually high mobility, having occupied no fewer than five senior marketing positions since 1991 - an average job tenure of 3.2 years. Among his previous posts were Universal Group Direct (2002), Lloyds TSB (1996) and British Airways (1991).

At Cole Haan, he will oversee marketing, product development and design. The company is headquartered in New York City where Ennals reportedly has a home.

Digital UK, already seeking a successor, is currently grilling both internal and external hopefuls for the position which will self-destruct in 2012.
