GLASGOW: SMG, the underperforming Scottish television and radio company, has restarted talks with Ulster TV after it rejected a merger proposal from the Irish company two weeks ago.
SMG, which owns Virgin Radio and the commercial TV franchises for STV and Grampian, is being stalked by a number of private equity groups and has succumbed to shareholder pressure to continue discussions with UTV, owner of Talksport radio.
A union would create a company with a market value of around £400 million ($752.3m; €587.3m).
