British Telecom's marketing department is in the throes of a shake-up as its group marketing director and head of marketing communications both abscond to lusher pastures.

The UK telecoms titan has moved Tim Evans from BT Business into the seat formerly occupied by Amanda Mackenzie who leaves to join Hewlett Packard.

Evans' background includes developing the customer-centric design of BT Retail's small and medium sized business division. During this time he took "BT Business to the forefront of the broadband access market" and was "instrumental in the fight to hold our share of the calls market", says group managing director for consumer and venture, Gavin Patterson.

The new head of marketing communications, Rebecca Morgan hails from London ad shop Bartle Bogle Hegarty where she moved through the ranks to become planning group head. She replaces Catherine Kehoe, who was elevated earlier this year to the role of head of strategy and marketing at BT Business.
